Vehicle Overview
This remarkably original 1938 Ford Woody Station Wagon was purchased new to serve on a wealthy estate, exclusively used locally for shopping and short trips. This Woody accumulated a mere 14,000 miles until it was sold to its second long-term Southern California owner in 1980. The second owner, a well-known wooden surfboard builder, used the Woody as a promotional vehicle for his business, displaying the vehicle at both surf and car shows along the Southern California coastline. With amazingly 99.5% of its original Birds Eye Maple wood present, still in excellent condition, it is clear this Woody has been meticulously cared for and garaged throughout its entire life. It is a totally complete car with everything in wonderful working condition. All paint on the dash is completely original as are the roof slats. The seats have just been restored with new foam and correct original materials, and a new period correct battery with correct tie-down was installed during July 2011. This Woody is an Original Numbers-Matching car left stock with the exception of dual pipes and a small lift in the rear to give a “Surfing Woody” look. This Woody drives, shifts, and stops excellently with no leaks or incorrect noises present, and will be a hallmark addition to any collection!
